This Special Issue presents work from high school participants in the NASA‑supported STEM Enhancement in Earth Science (SEES) Summer Intern Program. The collection highlights applied remote sensing and classification‑accuracy studies that employ rigorous validation and transparent geospatial workflows. Together, these contributions address persistent challenges in land‑cover mapping and demonstrate how structured mentorship and reproducible methods can enable early‑career scientists to engage meaningfully in Earth observation practice.
